Actually all compo links before Thursday, February 25, 1999 are broken. This is because I completely reorganised the directory structure of the site on this day.

Ok. This now will be a long one, since I had no updates recently (work, uni, no #pixel compos, and other lame excuses).

Small as in small compo happened the other day - Compo #31. Good work Sumaleth and Los! ;).

A couple of dudes were added to the Dudes page.

A couple of people asked what's the best program for pixeling - so here you are guys - Grafx 2 by Sunset-Design:

GRAFX 2.00 Alpha 96.3% - some cool improvements but a bit less stable

If some one knows anything about what happened to Sunset-Design - please mail me, 'cause it seems that their site is down already for months ;/.

I also plan to reorganise this site completely, since I haven't anticipated the amount of compos and the amount of information when I first created it.

Hugi Compo has finnished! Now wait for results! If you for some reason didn't manage to mail in your entry on time - you can still try, and if we haven't judged all the entries yet (which is quite likely), we'll accept it too ;).

I also fixed the X-mas Compo #30. There was some mix-up with the zips - check out the new first place ;).

As I predicted - another relative goes to hell - Compo #28.

You may wonder why sometimes instead of a thumbnail in a gallery I simply have a link through a word 'here'. This is because I use shareware Alchemy to scaledown all the images automatically and the ones larger than 640x480 are not processed ;/.

Also, if you are good at Alchemy, mind mailing me how to switch to other scaling algorithm than 'nearest neighbor'?

Hmm.. 'My psychotic little sister.' Some time soon we should also mention our cousins, sons, mothers-in-law, and crazy uncles ;). By the way - in near future X-mas 30 min Compo will be announced (i.e. the topic will be X-mas related).

Okay - I finaly had the possibility to make an update. I had some problems with my providers, and I couldn't ftp to any of the #pixel sites. I also have loads of exams next week (probably like most of us students ;] ).

I had an idea of providing some tutorials for beginners on the basis of creating some particular picture. So if any of you great artists would like contribute, please mail me the pictures and an article - even if you just show how you did your 30 minute picture would be nice.

#18, #19 - there you go! Okay, I'm under pressure - my imagination is dead - can't think of anything useful to write. Loads of university projects and some webdesign work. One positive thing though - I finally got payed! ;)

Deadlines of Network and Hugi logo compos are VERY close. Don't put off mailing in your entries until the last minute - the network might go down or the world might end - and your pic will never get to me ;).

Just to remind you guys and gals: #pixel homepage is on two mirrors: fsk.ml.org/pixel and pixel.scene.org. If one of the servers seems to be down the other should work. So if you are interested in seeing the latest galleries, news, etc., I'd advise you to bookmark both mirrors.

About a compo tomorrow - 'Thursday night 30 min Compo' - there's a possibility that I won't be there - but surely you guys can choose a judge yourself, set a topic and just have a compo without me. Distance can do it if he's there ;).

Also just to remind you: deadline for Network and Hugi Compos is aproaching - about 16 days left. Don't miss the change to get your artwork into those great scene publications!

Sorry everyone for no updates lately. I had some problems in RL lately. I hope to put up all the new stuff as soon as everything settles (a couple of days).

Trace Compo #2 results!

Trace 30min compo this Thursday at 21.00 GMT! Just look at the great results of the first one! See if you can do better ;).

ZZ compo will happen every Sunday at 21.00 GMT. As far as I understood this is a cool 30min compo by Zbaaga and Zthee. Finally I'll be able to participate too ;).

I'm happy to say that #pixel homepage has reached 1000 hits! At least I'm not doing all this for nothing ;).

My fellow Forsaken members are helping me to write some scripts - like automatic gallery generation from compo results, etc. I hope that it all works - this way I'll be able to put the galleries much faster.

I thought, I have to mention this: when you submit the pictures for the compo please call it handle.*, not 'handle_picture.gif', 'topic.gif' or something like that. Doing that slows down the judging and giving out the results.

Some breaking news for Network Logo Compo - check out the new prize!

Well, I guess people liked the idea of an organised 30min compo. So we'll have one again next Thursday - same time, same place (9pm GMT, #pixel).

I was asked by a number of people to keep hand drawn compos and trace compos separately, and I'd agree with them. Comparing pixelings and traces is like comparing painting and sculpture. Better have a separate trace compo (the results of the last one were real good, although not numerous).

I was asked to change a little the rules for HUGI Logo Compo - it should just be a HUGI diskmag logo, without the issue number - so that it can be used in any issue. Sorry, if that caused any problems for anyone.

Rules for Trace Compo added. I know those compos are small and not that important but we have to have at least some sort of rules ;) - read 'em before you participate!

More, more, more #pixel dudes! I didn't even know that so many ppl ever visit #pixel. Kewl.
